Contemporary photography & mixed media art by Stanislav Pospelov. Exploring the intersection of human experience, landscape, and identity. Studio in Ashkelon, Israel.
Born 1987 in Dudinka, northern Russia. Graduated from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem in 2015. Now based in Ashkelon, Israel. Eleven years in art.
Through self-portraits, still lifes, and landscapes, I construct visual narratives that reflect shifting states of mind — blending the intimacy of the domestic with the vastness of the natural world. Having grown up in two cultures shaped by traditional masculinity — Russia and Israel — I use photography to question these inherited norms. My practice offers alternative representations of male identity, grounded in vulnerability, ambiguity, and emotional depth.
Three media run in parallel: photography (often self-portraiture, still life, and landscape), mixed media on canvas (torn photographs, collage, gestural paint), and abstract painting.
The work moves between the intimacy of the domestic and the vastness of the natural world — and between the photograph as fixed image and the photograph as material that can be torn, layered, and rebuilt.
The longest-running series at the moment is Red Grey: nine originals on canvas exploring vulnerability, the body, and the question of what an alternative masculinity looks like.
Exploring the emotional tension between interior and exterior spaces — through photography, mixed media, and canvas.
